There he played football, basketball, and track. He received his degree and teaching certificate from North Texas State University and served in the U.S. Army before starting his career in education as a teacher and coach in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD in 1968. He taught in several other area school districts and served as the Director of Veteran Affairs for Tarrant Country Junior College before returning to EMS ISD as Assistant Principal of Boswell High School in 1979.

 

Mr. Hafley faithfully served the district at every level—elementary, middle, and high school—bringing leadership, heart, and dedication to each role. In 1994, he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, and in November 2001, he was named Superintendent of Schools. He officially assumed the role in June 2002 and led the district with distinction until his retirement in 2006.

Mr. Hafley passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2024, leaving behind a lasting legacy of service, integrity, and commitment to education in the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw community.
